Southern California, 1992) completed her Ph.D. in Public Administration from the University of Southern California in 1994.
Lydia M. (Kantor) Whitney Wanrow (English Education; M.E., various colleges
and universities) married Scott Wanrow on January 2, 2004. Together they bought a beautiful mountain home which
sits on 12 acres on the side of Roundtop Mountain in Emmitsburg, MD. She now has 2 new and wonderful
stepchildren, Kurt, 9 and Lynsie, 12.

Lee Ahlstrom (Mechanical Engineering; M.S. Mechanical Engineering,
University of Delaware, 1991) left McKinsey & Company in 2002 and now works for Unocal, serving as the Strategic
Planning Manager for the Deepwater Exploration Business Unit. He recently moved into Investor Relations where he works
with management in shaping and delivering the corporate message to investors and analysts. Lee has been
married to his wonderful wife, Patte, for almost 13 years, and they have three great children, Julia 5, Lauren 3, and Dash 1.
Janet E. Dunigan-Wilson (Communication) is currently the Director of Intergovernmental
Relations for the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission.
Stewart Hen (Chemical Engineering; M.S., MIT, 1992; M.B.A., Wharton, 1996)
has been named to the Neurogen Corporation Board of Directors. He lead Warburg Pincus' $60 million investment in the
biopharmaceutical company.
Craig G. Smucker (Chemistry; M.A., Johns Hopkins, 1993; M.D., Columbia College
of Physicians and Surgeons, 1998) opened a solo practice, Herring Run Orthopaedics, in Seaford, DE.

Karen A. (Beaty) Beeson (Business Administration)
and her husband, Tom, live in Newark with their two children, Sean 6 and Laura 3. They are active members
in the Newark community.
Stephen Cataldo (Physics, Political Science) is starting an environmental organization, SpaceShare,
that develops carpooling and other green logistics tools for events. "Next year we'll be building college carpooling tools--hopefully UD will
be one of the first users, and we can help keep the campus a bit greener and help you hold off on new parking lots."
Melanie L. (Heilenman) Fitzgerald (Food Science) is a business process analyst
with Agilent Technologies in Wilmington, DE. She has two sons, Ian, 2 and Billy, 6, and is married to Bill Fitzgerald
(Political Science, University of Delaware, 1988).
Paul Marquez (Accounting; J.D., Widener University, 1994) joined Mahoney Cohen & Company, CPA,
PC, as Director of Valuation services in January 2004, after stints at Weiser LLP, LordSPV, and Price Waterhouse. Paul currently resides on Long Island with his wife and two step-sons.
David Scott Pinsky (Philosophy; M.B.A., Drexel University, 1992;
Series 7 Securities License) is an Adjunct Instructor of Economics and Finance at Montgomery County Community
College as well as an Associate for SEI Investments.
Graeme M. Potter (Anthropology; M.S. Nutrition Sciences, University of Maryland, 1994; M.D., Penn State, 2000;
expected to complete OB/Gyn Residency in June 2004) has two daughters, Mackenna, 4 and Tessa, 11 months.

at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, South Hamilton, MA) has two sons, Bobby, 6 and Bryce, 3. His wife, Pamela, tutors students at
Waynflete School. Robert is the Area Director of Young Life Greater Portland, ME, a non-profit Christian Outreach to junior and
senior high school students. He is also an elder at Stroudwater Christian Church in Portland, ME.
Christopher Grim (Economics; M.B.A., Crummer School of Business, Rollins College, 1993)
is a Controller at Xytrans in Orlando, FL. He has three children, Kyle, born June 7, 1997, Connor, born October 20, 1999, and Kacie,
born September 28, 2002, with wife, Kristin.
He has been a CPA since 1999.
Dorothy "Betsy" E. McCoach (Economics and French; M.A., Lehigh University, 1993; M.A.,
University of Connecticut, 2001; Ph.D., University of Connecticut, 2003) is currently an assistant
professor in residence at the University of Connecticut.
John A. McGeehan (Mechanical Engineering; Masters in Engineering, University
of Michigan, 1992) is managing the launch of SmartBeam and U-Connect for Gentex on 2005 model year vehicles. John is also ordained
as an elder at New Life Fellowship Church.
Kelly L. (Simpson) Meyers (Elementary Education)
has decided to stay home with her two children, MacKenzie Shea, 3 1/2 and Jack William, 7 months, after 9 years of
teaching. She will remain actively involved with numerous volunteer organizations.
J. Michael Sauder (Chemistry) earned his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1998.
Mary Sikra Thomas (Political Science/English;
J.D., Harvard Law School, 1994) writes that her first child, Stephen Carlyle Thomas, was born on June 8, 2003. Her husband
Steve stays home with him full time.

states that in addition to continuing working as the Media Relations Coordinator at Camden County College, she is teaching
two classes of English Composition as an adjunct professor. She won a 2003 regional award and a 2004 national award from
the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations. These are Susan's second and third awards from NCMPR, which she became
affiliated with in 1999.
Jennifer A. (Savage) Johnson (French Education;
M.A. Bilingual/Bicultural Studies, LaSalle University) writes that after teaching high school French for 8 years, she now
stays home to care for her two young sons, Andrew, 3 1/2 and Aidan, 1 1/2. Jennifer married Craig Johnson in August 1997.
Daniel Paone (Chemistry; Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania)
writes that after a post-doc at University of California Irvine, he started working at Merck & Co., West Point, Pennsylvania,

Purdue University, 1998) is an Associate Veterinarian at Warren Animal Hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ where she has worked
for the past two years.
Kathryn Mitchell Brown (Psychology; M.L.S., Rutgers University, 2001) was promoted
to Senior Librarian at the Ocean City Free Public Library in Ocean City, New Jersey.

Kelly Bigley Craig (Elementary and Special Education; M.S. School and Public
Librarianship, Rowan University, 2003) gave birth to daughter, Andrea, in May 2003.
Laura B. Geyer (Biology; Ph.D. Biology, Harvard, 2004) has spent the last two years finishing her PhD research at the Hopkins Marine Station of Stanford University
in Monterey, CA and "finally" defended her dissertation at Harvard this past June. Laura's dissertation was on speciation in tropical sea urchins in the genus Echinometra. She has just started a new post doc
as lab manager for Harilaos Lessios, a staff researcher at the Naos Island labs of the Smithsonian Tropical research Institute in Panama.
Howard Mergler (Electrical Engineering) and his wife, Kathy Maurer (AS '95) welcomed Nathaniel Tobias
into their family on December 16, 2003 soon after their 8th anniversary. Howard is a police officer with Fairfax County Police
and Kathy is a science teacher with Manassas Park High School.
Michelle M. Olson (Biochemistry/Philosophy; M.D., Drexel University School
of Medicine) will complete her residency in General Surgery at Michigan State University in June and begin a fellowship in Colon
and Rectal Surgery at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh in July 2004.
Jon-David Rubin (Science; Lawyer, New York School of Law, 1999) writes that he got married on April 3, 2004 to Elaine Savage.
Paul J. Smith (Mathematics) is a Consultant with Diamond Technologies, as well as a Board Member
for Young Adult Ministry for the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington.
Robin F. (Blair) Towey (Business Administration; M.S. Interior Design, Drexel University, 2000)
got married to Kevin Towey on October 4, 2003. She has been working as an interior designer in Philadelphia for the last 4 years.
Karen Palmer Woodring (English Education; M.S. Humanities,
Penn State University) began teaching English and Communications at Central Pennsylvania College in October. She is
also a Stampin' Up demonstrator and a Longaberger consultant in her spare time.

Eve Nilenders (International Relations; M.A. Russian and European Studies/M.P.A, Indiana
University, 2001) has been living in Tallinn, Estonia since the fall of 2002, where she is currently working as Assistant Public
Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy. Eve received a Superior Honor Award for her work in the political section during 2003. In her
free time, she plays folk music in several local groups.

Robin J. Brittin (Biological Science) received an M.S. in Cell Biology from the University of
the Sciences in Philadelphia in 2003.
Duane S. Duke (Civil Engineering; M.D., Jefferson Medical College, 2003)
is doing a general surgery residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C.
Kerry Ann Erickson (Foreign Languages and Literatures)
continues to appear in operas and classical concerts. Most recently, she was named one of 12 national
finalists for the National Opera Association Competition in Kansas City this past January. Upcoming events included the WSCL (Salisbury,
MD) Spring Celebration Concert on Saturday, May 15.
Vincent J. Farrell (Philosophy) received his M.B.A. from the University of Delaware in 1999.

in April of 2004.
Catherine "Kate" Knieser (Music Education; M.M., Ithaca College, 2000) wrote that
after teaching junior high music for 7 years and being department chair for 4 years, she is going to work on a Ph.D. in Music
Education at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Kenneth W. Kozielski (Business; M.B.A., University of Delaware, 1998)
announces the new arrival of Anna Paige Kozielski on December 28, 2002. His work involves Employee Research and Communications/Strategy
Consulting.
Edith M. Myers (Biology; Ph.D. Neuroscience, University of Pennsylvania)
is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Yale University School of Medicine.
Michael O'Hara (Biochemistry; Ph.D., Thomas Jefferson University, 2002) has taken a senior
scientist position with Novartis Pharmaceuticals doing pre-clinical drug safety work in developmental toxicology.
Jeffrey L. Pauker (Accounting) is now working as an analyst for a Hedge Fund of funds.
Emily J. Raabe (English) started a new job as Public Relations Manager for
Bucks County Conference and Visitors Bureau in Pennsylvania.
Susannah J. (Stemmle) Vitsorek (Communication)
is working as an Account Coordinator for Origins Natural Resources cosmetics company, a division of Estee Lauder. She was
married to fellow UD Communication graduate, Jay Vitsorek, on October 5, 2002.
Andrew J. Weiss (Chemistry) is working in IT as a Systems Engineer and Consultant
for a publicly traded IT Service company in New York, but headquartered in California.

Kimberly R. (Krouse) Goodwin (Geophysics;
M.B.A., University of Southern Mississippi, 2001; M.S. Finance, George Washington University, 2002)
writes that her daughter, Brooke Rose Goodwin, was born on November 11, 2003. In Fall 2004, Kimberly will be entering a Ph.D. program in finance, but has not yet decided on a school. Until then,
she will continue running a web hosting company, OpenSourceHost, with her husband.

Brian S. Jacobs (Biology; M.B.A. St. Joseph's University, 2001 and Doctor of Osteopathic
Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, 2003)
is married to Mary Amanda (Pottorff) Jacobs (UD Honors Program, 1998). They both are resident physicians at the
Mayo Clinic, Brian in Family Medicine and Mary Amanda in Dermatology.
Stephanie L. Koch (Chemistry) received her
M.Ed. in Chemistry from West Chester University, 2004.
Shawn P. Mitchell (Film and Journalism; M.A. Film, University of Southern California)
got married last March in a small ceremony in Maui, Hawaii to Angela Harvey. He worked as an
editor for Oliver Stone on his documentary about Fidel Castro. In April, Shawn began editing a 12 part series for
National Geographic about doomed expeditions. He still misses Delaware and wishes everyone the best.

has just completed his first year as Assistant General Counsel for the New York Islanders and New York Dragons.

Rachel L. (Moyer) Leibrandt (Education) is working on her Master's of
Instruction at the University of Delaware. She was married on June 15, 2003 to Dr. Paul Leibrandt. She teaches 4th grade at Avon Grove Intermediate School.

opened a Chiropractic office in Baltimore, Maryland in September 2003.

Laura M. Peterson (Education) received an M.A. in Secondary Social Studies Education
in 2002 from Hofstra University as well as a School District Administration PD in 2004 from C.W. Post L.I.U.
Kenneth E. Remy (Biology; M.D., Jefferson Medical College, 2004) is currently a resident in
combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at University Hospitals of Cleveland/Case Western University. He is also involved
in teaching at the school of medicine and is a member of the resident advisory committee.
Gregory Robleto (English; CIW Web Design Certification)
has co-founded the Delaware Shakespeare Festival, providing the opportunity to see classical theatre outdoors while casually dining under the

Law, 2003) married the former Rachel Lynn Zbyszinski (M.B.A., University of Delaware,
2004) on August 16, 2003. Josh Wilson (UD '00) was a groomsman. Ryan was
admitted to the Maryland Bar in December 2003 and is a practicing Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals.

Rena Panagos (Psychology) completed her Master in School Psychology degree in October of 2003 at Rutgers University,
Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology.
Caryn Wertheim (Biology; Liberal Studies)
graduated in June 2004 as a physician and plans to specialize in the fields of pediatrics and adult internal medicine.
Kristi L. Zecker (Economics) was recently promoted to Retail Guest Service Manager at
Walt Disney World, Orlando, FL. She is "enjoying new challenges and responsibility and hoping to be visiting UD soon on a WDW College
Program recruiting trip." Kristi was accepted at the George Washington University full-time MBA program, but deferred admission to start
the program until the Fall of 2005.

of Maryland, 2003) is working as an archaeologist for the National Park Service and got married to Laura Stephens (AS '01)
in September, 2004.
Rebecca (Bixler) Bolton (Exercise Physiology)
was married in September of 2001 to Jason Bolton (UD '00). This past November they welcomed the arrival of their first child,
Micah Thomas Bolton. Rebecca stays at home with Micah while Jason works at Sandy Cove Ministries in North East, Maryland.

took a position with an architecture and engineering firm in center city Philadelphia.
Gregory R. Owens (Biological Sciences) is currently in his
third year of medical school at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine.
Fleur A. Prade (French and Italian Studies; M.A. French,
Middlebury College, 2002) is in her second year of a Ph.D. program in French Civilization at Penn State.
Jessica L. Ribble (Biology and Spanish) is currently finishing
her M.A. in Spanish at Purdue while waiting to hear from Ph.D. programs for next year. She spent the summer of 2004 in Spain
coordinating the Purdue Undergraduate Study Abroad Program.
Peggy J. (Cossean) Schenck (Environmental Engineering) writes that she is married to Luke Schenck (Chemical
Engineering, University of Delaware, 2001).
Ryan C. Snyder (Chemical Engineering) is currently a graduate student at
the University of California at Santa Barbara and was recently engaged to Kathryn Whitehead (UD Honors Program, 2002).
Stephanie Sprague (Family and Community Services) graduated from Boston College Law School in May, and has
accepted a position as an Associate at a law firm in Connecticut. In addition, Stephanie is engaged to a fellow alumnus, Rob Ives, whom she plans to marry in May 2005.
Andrew T. Stamps (Chemical Engineering) completed his first year of a Ph.D. program in Chemical Engineering at the University of South Carolina.
He also married Meghann L. Kreiger (UD '00) in June.
Eric J.S. Townsend (Political Science, Economics, History) completed
his Master of Journalism at the University of Maryland in 2003.
Brian A. Werner (Marketing) recently got engaged to Amy Humfeld (Biology, 2001),
also of Arlington, VA. Their wedding will be held in Newark on May 21, 2005. Amy will graduate from George Washington University on May
16, 2005 with her Doctorate in Medicine.

concentration in International Trade and Business Management at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

is currently working as Technology Director at the Delaware Democratic Party.
Caroline Bean (English)
moved to Manayunk, Philadelphia in October 2003 and now works as a Media Relations Coordinator
in the Public Relations Department of Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation.
Caroline "Carrie" Q. Brown (Communication)
is employed at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as a Special Events Coordinator.
Timothy G. Burroughs Jr. (Civil Engineering) is serving in the Peace Corps
Water Resource Project in Koutiala, Mali (southern end of Sahara Desert). He started in January 2003 and will return April 2005.
Margaret E. Carl
(Animal Science) is currently attending the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Minnesotaand will receive her D.V.M. in 2007.
John P. Hanna
(Biological Science and Liberal Arts) is currently a second year medical student at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.
John is a TA for Anatomy as well as a student ambassador for NYCOM.
Carrie A. Jacobus
(Biology) finished her second year at North Carolina State University towards a Ph.D. in the Department of Genetics. "Three
more years to go!"
Evangelia J. Karmokolias (Biology) has earned her Master of Public Health from
Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
Jennifer L. Koppenhaver (Latin American Studies/Geography; partial Master of Social
Sciences from Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala City, Guatemala) is working at an immigration law firm and hopes to go into the
foreign service later this year. Also, Jennifer got married in August.
Christopher Lafferty
(Economics and Finance) did some graduate work in Economics at UD after graduating and is currently enrolled at American University,
Washington College of Law where he expects to get his J.D. in 2006.
Stephanie L. Lutz (Biological Sciences)
started the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Thomas Jefferson University this Fall.
Erin M. O'Connor (Nursing; M.S.N. Pediatric Nurse Practitioner,
University of Pennsylvania, 2003) works as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in neurology at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and is also
teaching nursing at Neumann College.
Kris E. Proeschel
(Psychology) began attending S.U.N.Y. Stonybrook Physician Assistant Program this Summer.
Dana J. Rhode (Chemical Engineering) is now in her second year at Villanova Law.
Laura C. (Beron) Shuman (Accounting) married Matthew Shuman (Music Education, '02)
in August 2003. She is currently a Staff Accountant at KAWG&F, P.A. in Baltimore and is also working towards her C.P.A.

(Art) is working as a freelance commercial artist.

is currently pursuing her M.B.A. at Loyola College in Baltimore. She got engaged in October of 2002 and plans to

(Music) is moving to Colorado to begin a Master of Music program at the University of Colorado where her major will
be Piano Performance and Pedagogy. She will be getting married in October 2004.

(Biology/Liberal Studies) is attending Medical School in Philadelphia at Jefferson Medical College.

(Computer Information Systems) moved to Hoboken, New Jersey and is working for Lehmon Brothers in New York City.
Timothy Douglas Jones (Physics) is entering his second year of graduate school (Ph.D., Physics, Drexel University) and was the second author on a journal paper in the press. He won a teaching award and
has joined the Nonlinear Dynamics Group.

(Political Science; M.S. History) is headed to Duke Law School in Fall 2004.
Samantha K. Kwan
(Animal Science) is getting a Master in Physiology degree at the University of California, Davis where she is studying
the effects of estradiol on edema forming after ischemia.
Tara McCarthy
(English/Creative Writing) writes that "using my Creative Writing degree to become part of such
an esteemed production team has been both a surprise and a blessing. I had no idea I could acquire such an amazing job by
studying the things I loved! I'm contemplating going back to school for an M.A. in English." Tara works as a
Production Assistant with Fine Creative Media.
Michael G. Savarese
(Civil Engineering) is working as a Water Supply Engineer with Dvirka and Bartilucci Consulting Engineers.
Bret Strogen
(Environmental Engineering) completed an M.S. in Environmental Engineering in May 2004 after one year of living
at the International House at the University of California, Berkeley. This past summer Bret visited friends in many Asian countries and traveled around
New Zealand and Australia with his brother.

(Psychology/Sociology) is serving in the Notre Dame Americorps in Apopka, Florida.
Kevin Walker
(Mathematics and Economics) is currently working as a Statistician at the U.S. Census Bureau. He began a Master's
in Measurement, Statistics, and Evaluation degree at the University of Maryland this Fall.

(International Relations/Three Languages) is doing her M.S. in U.S. Foreign Policy at American University.
Sarah is also interning in the Terrorism Department of the O.A.S.

Edward Claugus died in April 1999.
Madeleine D. Keeve (FIP), who transferred
to Oberlin College after attending the UD Honors Program in Fall 1976,
died on April 1, 2002.
Barbara D. Secrest (1980) died
unexpectedly on July 3, 2002, at her home in Orrville, OH.
