Class of 1978
Tom D. Williams (FHP; Columbia's
Law School and Hamilton College, 1983) was married to Barbara J. Miller
in August 1996. Barbara has two daughters--Tara, 19, and Kelly, 18.
Their son Tommy Bruce Miller-Williams was born on December 10, 1999
(as was reported in the 2002 Class Notes). The newest addition to the
family is Corinne Scott Miller-Williams, born on August 11, 2001.

for 23 years to UD alumna, Joyce Polecaro Dever (BME '80). They have

Sciences; M.S. 1983, Florida Institute of Technology) is a software
engineer at Lockheed Martin in Florida.

that the strategic marketing consulting company he started in 2001 is
"going extremely well."
Aimee C. Timmins (Music Education)
got a Master of Music degree at the University of Maryland, where she
has also done some post-graduate work. She is currently webmaster for
Maryland State Department of Education's Virtual Learning Program. Check

is Chief Investment Consultant for PFE Advisors, LLC, an employee benefits
consulting form in Natick, MA. He was married in 1997 and added a daughter
to the family in 2001.
Wayne M. Wells (Chemistry) is currently
involved in production and research at W.L. Gore & Associates, concentrating
on the use of surface geochemistry for oil and gas exploration.

Kathleen Haines Bender (Chemical
Engineering) is the Clinical Project Director for AstraZeneca's Global
Clinical Development Group.
Christine Brown Hurt (Accounting;
M.B.A. Loyola College of Maryland, 1993) is married to Steven Hurt and
has two children--David (9) and Mark (6). She is Controller of Marcor
Management Systems, Inc., an environmental remediation firm.
Jane Lemmer Laroussi (Computer
and Information Sciences; Masters of Information Sciences, Virginia
Polytechnic Institute and State University, 1996) married Badr Laroussi
on March 9, 2002.
John A. Mentis (International Relations)
was appointed acting president and CEO of USA Rice Federation, the national
trade association of America's rice farmers, millers, and allied industries.
He holds this position concurrently with his other responsibilities
as Vice President, Domestic and International Promotion.
Daniel C. Schlotterbeck (Accounting)
was recently promoted to Vice President - Finance at Russ Berrie and
Company, Inc. (NYSE: RUS).

Mary K. Manganaro Adkins (Elementary
Teacher Education) writes that she and her husband, Jim, are still enjoying
living in the Seattle area. They recently spent a year in Australia
and enjoyed seeing the Olympics there as well as all they could experience
in Sydney and the outback. She is now at home, taking care of their
three children, Carolyn (10), Kathleen (6), and James (1).
Peter Belina (CIS) writes that
after 10 productive and interesting years at Lehman Brothers, he has
accepted an offer from JP Morgan Chase to focus on similar, but larger
scale, IT issues.
Sharon D. Rappoport Bell (Finance)
is married and an at-home mom to three children, Griffin ( 8) and twin
girls, Camryn and Kayla (4).
J. W. Clements continues to work
for GMAC Commercial Holding Corporation in Horsham, PA, in the commercial
mortgage and equipment financing area. He has 4 children, ages 4 to
11, and is married to Stacy Mayhew Clements (UD '88).
Lauren Clingan (English) married
David Lillard (UD '78) in 1991. They have a beautiful 2 1/2-year-old
daughter, Claire. Lauren recently began a solo law practice in Shepherdstown,
WV.
Craig F. Maylath (Chemical Engineering;
M.D. Temple University, 1993; M.P.H. Boston University, 1998) writes:
"My wife Lisa and I moved to South Carolina in July 2000. We now
have two wonderful daughters. Madeline was born in January 2001 and
Paige arrived in October 2002. Being a daddy is everything people say
it is, only better. I work at the University of South Carolina in Columbia,
home of the Fighting Gamecocks (I will only accept employment at schools
that have aggressive poultry as mascots). All is well, except that the
city of Columbia reminds me of Gertrude Stein's dismissal of Oakland,
CA--"there is no 'there' there." I still fondly recall my
UHP days. Go Blue Hens!
Dawn McCall (Animal Science) still
works at Charles River Labs. She is active in the New England Herpetological
Society.
Brad A. Molotsky (Accounting; M.B.A.
and J.D., Villanova University and Law School, 1989) was named to "40
Under 40" by the Philadelphia Business Journal; he was also
recently elected to the American College of Mortgage Lawyers.
John M. Nahay (Chemical Engineering;
M.S. Math, Rutgers, 1991; Ph.D. Math, Rutgers, 2000) reports that he
has published his first paper in a peer-reviewed math journal (International
Journal of Mathematics & Mathematical Sciences, vol. 32:12,
2002). He has another paper due to appear in The Journal of Differential
Equations. He adds, "Also, I qualified for Social Security
Disability!"

Marsha Stalker Bischel (Chemical
Engineering; M.S. University of Connecticut, 1989; Ph.D. University
of Delaware, 1997) and her husband adopted a baby boy from Korea. His
name is Samuel James Joon Bischel.
Doreen Brady (Business Administration;
M.Ed., Pennsylvania State University, 2002) and her husband, Theodoros
Moisiadis, announce the birth of their son, Panagiotis, on May 16, 2002.
They live in Birmingham Township, PA, along with their ten-year-old
daughter, Parthena.
David M. Hauben (Biology/Psychology)
and his wife, Leslie Fox, were expecting their first child in July.
David H. Horner (Civil Engineering)
was married in 1995 to Diane. They have two children, Allison (5), born
December 16, 1997, and Eric (3), who arrived on October 1, 1999.

recently accepted a new position with ABN AMRO in New York after 14
years with JP Morgan. He is married to a UD alumnus, Kathleen Regan.
They have two children, Erin (5) and Daniel (2).
Julie D. O'Connor (Accounting)
teaches French at Caesar Rodney High School in Camden, Delaware where
she also coaches the Academic Challenge team. She is married to Tim
O'Connor and has 2 sons, Liam (5) and Aidan (3).

Stewart J. Hen (Chemical Engineering;
M.S. MIT, 1991; M.B.A. Wharton, 1996) was recently named a managing
director at Warburg Pincus LLC, where he focuses on venture capital
and private equity investments in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical
industries. He is currently on the Board of Directors of The Medicines
Company, Triangle Pharmaceuticals, and Synaptic Pharmaceutical. He also
serves on the Health and Sciences Group of the New York City Investment
Fund.

earned his Ph.D. from William and Mary in 1999.

a home in West Trenton and the company he started three years ago focusing
on Internet advertising for pharmaceutical companies is growing.
Julie A. Walko (English/German;
M.S.L.S. Catholic University, 1994) became a certified EMT-B in Virginia
in May 2002. She works as a librarian at the US Patent Trademark Office.

Elizabeth A. Heckles (English)
has just returned from an eight-month around the world journey and will
be moving to Wyoming!
Anne Marie Edenhofner Tan (Economics
and Political Science) and husband, Narcisco, have moved back from The
Netherlands to Westchester County, New York. They had twins, Jacob and
Antoinette on January 8, 2002.

married with two children.
Mary Sikra Thomas (Political Science;
J.D. Harvard Law School, 1994) is an attorney at Quinn Emanual Urguhart
Oliver & Hedges in California.
Kalah Feeman Woerner (Art/Art History;
M.Arch., University of Maryland) is the mother of James (2 1/2) and
Samuel (4 months). She obtained her Architectural License in the state
of Florida last September.

Duke Universitiy School of Law, 1995) is counsel with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals
in Wilmington, DE.
Susan Mathew Gibbons (History;
M.L.S. and Masters of History, Indiana University, 1995; M.B.A. University
of Massachusetts, 2002) was recently promoted to Director, Digital Library
Initiatives, at University of Rochester Libraries. She has given numerous
presentations and published on information technology topics, including
institutional repositories, electronic books, electronic theses and
dissertations, and library course management systems. Her daughter,
Michaela, turned 3 in early 2003.
Michael C. Johnson (Chemical Engineering;
Ph.D. Princeton University, 1998) continues to work for Praxail, Inc.,
in Research and Development. He was married to Kristin Gilliland on
May 25, 2002.
David Kelly (International Relations;
M.A. Political Science, Indiana University, 1994) and his wife, Kay
McAdams, have one daughter, Ella, who will be two in December, and are
expecting a son in January.
Rob Pritchard (Accounting; J.D.
Harvard Law School, 1995) is vice president and general counsel for
The Griffin Group in New York.
Wendy L. Rise Rios (Chemical Engineering)
writes that she and her family moved to California in May 2002, one
month after her husband, Mitch, returned from a 7-month deployment to
Afghanistan with the Marine Corps. They have "two beautiful daughters,
Brianna, 4, and Jenna, 2." They are really enjoying their new home
but miss the ability to visit UD by car!

Carolyn J. Babula (Anthropology;
Ph.D. Anthropology, Rice University, expected 2003) defended her dissertation
last November; its title is "(Re) Collecting: Vintage Fashion,
Wardrobe and Memory."
M. André Buck III (Finance; J.D.,
Widener Law School) joined the law firm of Sherman, Silverstein, Kohl,
Rose and Podolski in their sports division. Rose Professional Management's
clients include Aaron McKie, Laron Profit (DE high school grad), Spencer
Dunkley (UD), and Allen Iverson.

Cathy Norton Cavanaugh (Mechanical
Engineering; Master of Engineering; UC Berkeley, 1995) is enjoying life
in Hawaii with her husband, Chris, and her children--Ethan (3) and Meghan
(1).
Amy Bowers Eberz (Mathematics;
M.Ed. in College Counseling, 1995; Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, Pennsylvania
State Universtiy, 2000) writes, I am in my third year at the Counseling
Center at the University of Missouri-Columbia. I enjoy doing therapy
and training graduate students studying psychology. In my free time
I'm enjoying biking and running on the beautiful trails here, designing
and creating jewelry, and practicing yoga. My husband, Walter, and I
bought our first house when we moved to Columbia, and it is wonderful!
We're very happy here, although we miss friends, family, and culture
of the east coast.
Travis Longcore (Geography) now
works as Science Director for The Urban Wildlands Group in Los Angeles.
In 1995 and 1999 he earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Geography, both at
UCLA.
David R. Mazur (Mathematical Sciences)
earned both his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences from Johns Hopkins
University in 1996 and 1999.
Esther Fan Michael (English/Journalism)
writes software documentation for Developer Tools at Microsoft in Redmond,
Washington. Her husband, William Michael, works at Microsoft as a software
tester for Small Business Server.
Casey DeVita Sandor (French Studies;
M.A. in Teaching, Quinnipiac University) was married in 1998 and is
now in her seventh year as a high school French teacher and varsity
tennis coach. She was named by the Connecticut Post as the 2002
Girls Tennis Coach of the Year. She is currently pursuing a Sixth Year
Diploma in Educational Leadership.
Chelsea D. Specht (Biology; M.S.
Biology, New York University, 1997) is finishing a Ph.D. in Evolutionary
Biology and Botany at NYU and the New York Botanical Garden after returning
from three years in Bolivia (1997-2000). In Bolivia she worked for the
World Wildlife Fund on developing a conservation program for the southwestern
Amazon. Her dissertation is on the systematics and evolution of the
plant family Costacea.

is currently teaching at Meade High School in Fort Meade, MD.

Science; D.V.M. Purdue University, 1998) last September moved to a new
home and a new job at a day practice in Warren County, NJ.
David R. Power (Chemical Engineering
and Mathematics) is working full time for Back To Basics Learning Dynamics,
an educational organization in Wilmington, DE, that provides tutoring
services and homeschooling to clients in the area.
Douglas Robinson (Chemical Engineering;
M.S. Financial Planning, College for Financial Planning, 2003) was married
in 1995 to Patty Scheffer (1995, Civil Engineering). His daughter, Amelia,
was born in October 1998, son Christian in May 2000, and son Gavin in
January 2002. His fourth child is due in October 2003. He founded Robinson
Financial Advisory, an investment management and financial planning
firm, in 2002.
Joseph D. Thompson (English), has
been working as an Assistant Professor of English and African-American
Studies at Washington University in St. Louis.

Joanna Hart Adams (Finance and
Operations Management; M.B.A. Salisbury University, 1998) gave birth
to a son, Alex Avery Adams, on October 12, 2002. He weighed 8 lbs.,
10 oz., and was 20 1/2 inches long.
Lisa Blazejewski (Biology; M.S.
Genetic Counseling Program, University of Minnesota, 1999) is keeping
busy with work (Genetic Counselor at UMass Memorial Medical Center in
Worcester) and is looking forward to (hopefully) buying a house this
year.
Kimberly Henry (Early Childhood
Development; M.Ed., NC State University, 2002) writes that 2002 was
a very busy year for her family! After teaching special education for
6 years in the Wake County, NC public schools, she became a stay-at-home
mom in July 2002. Her husband, Dan, and she bought a very cool restaurant
called Homegrown Pizza in their now-hometown of Holly Springs, NC in
November 2002. She graduated with her Masters in Education from North
Carolina State University on December 18 and 4 days later,
welcomed daughter, Erin Margaret Henry into this world. Erin weighed
in at 7 lbs. 15 oz. and was 20 inches long. Her big brother, Owen (born
4/28/2000) just loves her to pieces!

Chris Kulp (Chemistry; M.S. Polymer
Chemistry, Stevens Institute of Technology) writes that he just moved
into a new home last October (from NJ to PA). His son, Josh, turned
two in September and he and his wife, Kristen Sipics (Chemical Engineering,
1996), are expecting their second child in early September 2003. Chris
works as Business Development Manager at Richman Chemical, Inc., in
Ambler, PA. He is also working on an M.B.A. from Temple University.
Bridget M. McNulty (Chemical Engineering)
was recently promoted to Principal Chemist/Coordinator in the Pharmaceutical
Raw Materials Department at Lancaster Laboratories.
Gabrielle Conley Moore (Biology)
is due to give birth to her second boy in August. Her oldest son, Jackson,
is now 2 1/2 years old. She and her husband, Ken, recently celebrated
their sixth wedding anniversary.
Joe Salvatore (History; M.F.A.
in Theater, UMass, 1998) teaches in the Educational Theatre program
at NYU; he also teaches in the Department of Communication Studies,
Peformance Studies, and Theatre at Long Island University.
Jeffrey Sharkey (Music) was appointed
Dean of the Cleveland Institute of Music in August 2001.
Daniel A. Shoemaker (Biological
Sciences; M.D., Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University,
1999) has just completed a residency in Pediatrics at Crozer-Chester
Medical Center in Upland, PA. He has been assigned as base Pediatrician
at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, AL, effective July 21, 2003.

Pepperdine University, 2002) writes that she has completed her MBA at
Pepperdine University in 2002.

Scott Barber (Chemistry) and wife,
Krista (B.S. in Biochemistry, 1996) are expecting their second child
in February. He has recently been promoted to National Consulting Engineer
in Apple's K-12 and Higher Education Sales division.

that he and his wife, Cathy Jones Bergquist (UHP, Chemistry
'96), are the parents of Gregory Charles, born
November 10, 2002. He weighed 7 lbs., 12 oz.

is still working at W.L. Gore & Associates in new process development.
In her spare time she teaches yoga at the Elkton, MD, YMCA and plays
volleyball.
Jason Gottshall (Applied Music:
Voice; M.A. Choral Conducting, Indiana University) was invited to join
the U.S. Army Chorus last year. The Chorus is one of the active-duty
special bands stationed at Ft. Meyer in Virginia. He completed basic
training last summer and began singing with the chorus last August.
He also serves as choir direrctor at the Truro Episcopal Church in Fairfax,
VA.
Tom Harr (Finance) will marry Stacey
Mandichak (AS 97) in May 2003. He is Senior Financial Analyst in Investor
Relations and Strategic Planning at Sunoco, Inc., in Philadelphia.
Bob Jachim (International Relations;
M.A.I.S. in Middle Eastern Studies, 1996) currently works for the U.S.
Department of State as a Foreign Service Officer. He completed a two-year
assignment in Tequciqalpa, Honduras, and last December transferred with
his family to a new assignment in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Betsy Hoats Krauss (Accounting)
is living in Danbury, CT, and working as a manager at Grill & Partners,
LLC, a regional CPA firm in Fairfield.
Nicholas Thomas Leone (B.S.N.;
M.D., Jefferson Medical College, 2003) graduated in June 2003 and was
elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. This summer
he will continue his work at the University of Pennsylvania in Urologic
Surgery.

Relations) is a policy specialist in the Institute for Public Administration
at UD. She sent this photo of the newest addition to the Moreland family.

was named 2003 Delaware Young Engineer of the Year. He works at Landmark
Engineering.
Ann A. Prestrud (Psychology; M.P.H.,
Drexel, 2003) planned to graduate from the Drexel School of Public Health
in May 2003.
Michelle Straight Spangler (Animal
Science; D.V.M., VMRCVM 2000) and her husband were expecting a baby
in July 2003. She was in the process of opening her own pet boarding
and grooming facility last spring.
Evan O. Williford (English and
Vocal Performance; J.D. Cornell University, 2001) started working for
Richards Layton & Finger, a Wilmington law firm, last August.

Tammy Anderson (Animal Science)
was planning to travel to Madagascar last October with a research team
as a field assistant. The team was to study the effects of forest fragmentation
on the diademed sifaka. She planned to return home on July 14, 2003.
Douglas Bower (Environmental Science)
is a medical student at Penn State College of Medicine.
Mikelle L. Drew (Apparel Design)
recently took a job as a designer with Danskin, a leading manufacturer
of dancewear, bodywear and activewear. Mikelle will be designing the
activewear line as well as some yogawear.
Duane S. Duke (Civil Engineering)
graduated from Jefferson Medical College in June 2003; he then started
general surgery residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Stacey Mandichak Harr (Neuroscience)
married Tom Harr (UHP BE, '96) on May 4, 2002. In 1999 she earned a
master's degree from Acadia University as a Physician Assistant. She
is currently working at the Christiana Hospital in Wilmington, DE, for
a gastroenterology practice specializing in liver disease.
Heather N. Hollowell (Chemical
Engineering) earned her M.D. in Emergency Medicine at the University
of Virginia. She's now doing an EM residency at UVA as well.
Brian T. Holmes (Chemistry; Ph.D.
in Chemistry, 2002, Clemson University) is conducting post-doctoral
work in chemistry/materials at the University of Minnesota.
Keith Hornberger (Chemistry) spent
five years living in NYC where he earned his Ph.D. in chemistry with
Professor James Leighton in May 2002. He then moved to North Carolina,
where he works as a medicinal chemist for GlaxoSmithKline in the Research
Triangle Park near Raleigh. On June 29, 2002, he married Devon LaBelle
in Haddonfield, NJ, and then honeymooned in Alaska. He writes that he
still keeps up with several UD folks in the area, including Jason Remy
(AS '98), Jen Kern Remy (AS '98--at whose wedding he met his future
wife), and Jill Trafton Venton (AS '98). UD Professor Eric Benson (AS
'96) was a groomsman in his wedding. "We've got our own little
mini-nest of Blue Hens down here!"
Kathryn Roache Johnson (Biochemistry)
married Michael Johnson in September 2002 on Long Island, Maine.
Cathy Du Louie (Accounting) wrote
that she and her husband, Michael, were expecting their first child
in May 2003.
Meredith L. Moore (Biochemistry;
Ph.D. Biomedical Sciences [Molecular Pathology], University of Texas-Houston
Health Science Center, 2002) is doing a post-doc with the Howard Hughes
Medical Institute at the Harvard Medical School Genetics Department.
Edith Myers (Biology '97;
Ph.D., Neuroscience, University of Pennsylvania, 2003) earned her Ph.D. in Neuroscience in August and is a postdoctoral Research
Associate in the Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at
Yale University.
Jeffrey L. Pauker (Accounting)
recently began working for Olympia Capital Management, a hedge fund
based in Paris.
Linda Boose Styer (Biology; M.S.
Epidemiology, University of California, Davis, 2002) will be getting
her Ph.D. this summer at UC-Davis and in August 2003 will start a post-doc
at Wadsworth Center, New York State Department of Health, in Albany,
NY.
James R. Wrigley (Finance and Management)
is engaged and planning to be married this October. He is currently
Vice President of Development at Trefoil Properties, a commercial real
estate development company.

has moved to Silver Spring, MD, but is still enrolled at the College

graduated from NC State College of Veterinary Medicine and is a practicing

Marcia Cavanaugh Nickle (Sociology
and Women's Studies; M.A. Sociology, University of Delaware) married
UD grad Matthew C. Nickle (BE '98) on October 13, 2002, in Newark.
Jenny Nuuttila (Nutrition Science/Dietetics)
works as a clinical outpatient dietitian in a small rural hospital in
northwestern New Mexico. She writes, "The area is great, and I
enjoy hiking, biking, and skiing out here."
Anuj Parikh (Liberal Studies and
Biology) married Tejal Baxi, an elementary reading specialist from Roslyn,
New York, on May 4, 2002. A month later he received his M.D. from Jefferson
Medical College and is now a Resident Physician in Emergency Medicine
at Jefferson University Hospital. He expects to complete his residency
in June 2005.

College, University of London, 2001) works for Time Equities in New
York City. Last summer he had an art show in London.
Jill Cortright (English/Journalism)
has been working for a year as an assistant managing editor at The Gazette
in Prince George's County, where she edits and designs pages for three
weekly community newspapers and supervises three reporters.
Clare L. Gimpel (Biological Sciences;
Certificate of Biomedical Sciences, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic
Medicine, 2000) expects to earn her Doctor of Osteopathy in June 2004.
She plans to marry that same month, on June 12, 2004.
Robert J. Greiner (Biology and
Liberal Studies) started his Pediatrics Residency at Inova Fairfax Hospital
for Children in Falls Church, Virginia, on July 1, 2003.
Farah Haq (Marketing) will be entering
the Masters in Public Health degree program at Johns Hopkins this Fall.

working in Synygy's Client Services Division, performing system implementation

become a Program Assistant for Stanford University's Washington Program

Engineering) was married on December 15, 2001; he and his wife just
bought an 1850's farmhouse in Macungie, PA.
Ron Steinfeld (Economics) writes
that he graduated from the NYU School of Law in May 2002 and last fall
began employment as an associate in the corporate department of the
New York office of Jenkens & Gilchrist Parker Chapin LLP.

Jackie Nicnick Buck (Biological
Sciences; M.P.H., Arnold School of Public Health, University of South
Carolina, 2002) writes: "After graduation from UD I went on to
earn a master's degree in public health from the University of South
Carolina. I am working now as a health education specialist for the
SC AIDS Training Network (which does continuing education in HIV/AIDS
for medical professionals and also plans and executes the annual South
Carolina HIV/STD Conference). In October 2001 I married Aaron Buck (UD
'00), who is currently a first lieutenant in the US Air Force and deployed
to Turkey."

Jenny Kacskaylo (French and Environmental
Science) has earned an M.A. in French Literature from the University
of Virginia.
Rebekah Crockett Kent (Entomology
and Wildlife Conservation; M.S. Entomology, University of Arkansas,
2002) is pursuing a Ph.D. at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public
Health in Baltimore. She studies vector ecology, focusing on mosquito-transmitted
diseases.
Janice K. Lee (Computer and Information
Science) has taken a new job as Systems Programmer for the Wharton School
at the University of Pennsylvania.
Brenda Mayrack (International Relations/Women's
Studies) was working at a ski resort in Colorado last winter, snowboarding
on her days off and loving it!
Christine Kavanaugh Miller (Voice)
recently won the semi-finals of the Metropolitan Opera Regionals. She
recently performed her second professional opera lead with a Washington,
D.C. company and won an invitation to sing at the International Music
Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia, this past October (2002).
Wendy H. Mintzer (Finance) is engaged
and plans to marry in November 2003.
David P. Myers (Chemical Engineering)
started with Merck & Co. in July 2000 as a manufacturing supervisor
in Vaccine Operations. He became engaged in June 2002 and started working
as a staff engineer in Vaccine Technology & Engineering this past
January.
Mario M. Nozzolillo (Biological
Sciences) is working on a Master's degree in health administration at
NYU. Recently he was hired as the Manager of Faculty Practice in the
Department of Pediatrics at the Mount Sinai Medical Center, with a staff
of over 20 people.

Betsy Richardson (Liberal Studies)
is a second-year medical student at Thomas Jefferson Medical College
in Philadelphia.
Liz Rieser-Murphy (International
Relations) is working on her master's in TESOL at NYU. Since last June
she has been a New York City Teaching Fellow, teaching English to speakers
of other languages in Bronx middle schools. From 2000-2001 she was in
the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in Baton Rouge, LA.
Jeff Six (Computer Engineering;
M.E.E. University of Delaware, 2001) has been working for the Department
of Defense for the past three years. He also teaches computer science
and electrical engineering at UD and the University of Maryland, Baltimore
County.
Shante A. Stargell (Civil Engineering)
is engaged to Jason Hastings (Civial Engineering '00 and Master's in
Civil Engineering '01). They are planning a fall wedding.
Kristi L. Zecker (Economics) just
started her third year of working at Walt Disney World in Orlando. She

Kevin Andrew Driscoll (Liberal Studies)
is studying for his Ph.D. at Rutgers University in Cognitive Science. He is investigating the mental representation of illness. His research is conducted through the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research.
Brian M. Giordano (Liberal Studies)
is attending Jefferson Medical College.
Kurt Goetz (Geophysics) is working
in an environmental testing firm in Manhattan and last Spring was applying
to graduate schools to study geology in the fall. He visits UD occasionally.
Jacy C. Ippolito (Dean's Scholar,
English and Psychology; M.Ed. in Education, Language and Literacy, Harvard
Graduate School of Education, 2001) will be moving into a recently purchased
condo with his fiancée, Victoria Treese. He has been accepted
into the doctoral program at Harvard Graduate School of Education and
will start there this Fall, after having completed two years of teaching
at a Cambridge elementary school.
Rich Jones (Accounting) passed
the C.P.A. exam in November 2001 and has been working for KPMG LLP for
over a year.
Timothy I. Miyashiro (Physics)
is a graduate student in Physics at the University of Pennsylvania and
married Nicole Fernandez (UD '01) on July 5, 2002.
Jennifer Morrison (Biology) is
currently in graduate school at DeSales University pursuing a Masters
degree in the Physician Assistant program.
Jessica L. Ribble (Biology and
Spanish) spent a year teaching English for EF Education and is now enrolled
in the Master's degree program in Spanish Literature at Purdue University.
Adam M. Seidel (Finance) is attending
Brooklyn Law School in Brooklyn, NY.
Stephanie Sprague (Family and Community
Services) is engaged to UD alum, Robert Ives, Jr. ('01), and is in her
final year of law school at Boston College. She will be working for
a large law firm in Hartford, Connecticut next fall.
Andrew T. Stamps (Chemical Engineering)
is beginning a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of South
Carolina in the Fall of 2003. He is "engaged to the lovely Meghann
L. Kreiger, UD Class of 2000."

is in her second year at Brooklyn Law School. She was recently awarded

Relations) received certification as a massage technician. He is applying

Sarah R. Barnwell
(Economics and Business and Technical Writing), after working for a
year with the CHANGE Project at the Academy for Educational Development
in Washington, D.C., is currently pursuing a J.D. at Case Western Reserve
University, concentrating in International Trade Law.
Georgia Basso (Entomology/Wildlife
Conservation) is moving to California to work on the recovery of endangered
species. She will head the invertebrate field crew and assist with both
the avian and mammalian field crews.
Caroline Bean (English)
is an advertising proofreader at Trahan, Burden & Charles, Inc.,
in Baltimore. She writes: "I'm living in a great Federal Hill townhouse
with two friends from high school. I moved to "the Charm City"
in September '02, after working at the Delaware Center for the Contemporary
Arts in Wilmington all summer."
Laura Beron (Accounting)
is working at KAWG & F as a staff accountant. She took the CPA exam
last November and plans to get married in August 2003 to a fellow UD
grad.
Suzanne E. Biehn (Biology) is enrolled
in the UNC-Chapel Hill Medical School and expects to graduate as an
M.D. in 2006.
Timothy G. Burroughs, Jr.
(Civil Engineering) left at the end of January to join the Peace Corps,
where he is stationed in Mali. His job involves water sanitation improvements.
Stacey L. Carlough
(English/Journalism) in October 2002 became the associate editor at
a New Jersey medical journal entitled Federal Practitioner. She
plans to go to graduate school in 2004.
Quincy Anne Carpenter
(French) is enrolled in the Moore College of Art and Design Professional
Development Program. She lives in Center City Philadelphia and (as of
last fall) was searching for full-time work in an architectural firm
or with a residential design company.
Amy L. Conver (History/Journalism)
is an assistant editor at a publishing company located just outside
of Philadelphia.
Seema B. Dattani (Biological
Sciences) will be starting Jefferson Medical College in Fall 2003.
Michael A. Geramita
(Political Science & International Relations) backpacked in Europe
last summer with another UD '02 grad, Ryan Middleton. He plans to attend
grad school this Fall.
Julie E. Goodwin (English)
is beginning her second year at the University of Maryland School of
Law. She lives in Baltimore.
Laura Grodzicki (Liberal
Studies) attends graduate school at Penn State for speech language pathology.

Alexander Grushin
(Computer and Information Sciences) is attending grad school at UMD's
Computer Science Department. His plan is to obtain a Ph.D. in computer
science, which he estimates will take about five years.
Heather Hartman (Computer
and Information Sciences) is attending grad school at UD in the Computer
Science Department. While earning her degree, she is serving as the
Hall Director of Brown Hall. She hopes to complete her Masters Degree
by May 2004.
Carrie A. Jacobus (Biology) is
currently attending North Carolina State University enrolled in the
Genetics Ph.D. program.
Jennifer L. Lewis
(Psychology and Sociology) is working towards a Master of Science in
Counseling Psychology at Loyola College in Baltimore.
Sandra J. Llera (Psychology)
has a new job at Eastern Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute as a child
psychology research assistant.
Sarah E. Marshall
(Sociology and Psychology) is working on a M.A. in Social Service Administration
at the University of Chicago. She will graduate in 2004.
Keeley McGill (Educational
Studies) is in the sociology graduate program at the University of Maryland
in College Park. Her main area of interest is racial inequality and
she is currently a research assistant to Dr. Bonnie T. Dill at the Consortium
on Race, Gender, and Ethnicity. She lives in Beltsville and intends
to continue her education, ultimately earning a Ph.D. in sociology.
Jarrod R. Melson (English
and Political Science & International Relations) is attending the
Washington College of Law at American University.
Natalie Miller (Animal
Science) spent last summer volunteering for 3 months with the Girl Scouts
in Switzerland. Then she worked until this June in Croatia for FLAG
International on economic and community development projects. Natalie
returned to UD this summer to be Senior RA for the Summer College Program.
She will be starting a year-long internship with the NIH in Washington,
D.C., this fall. Then she thinks she'll finally be ready to start graduate
school!
Emily Y. Mitchell
(Biological Studies and Women's Studies) recently returned from three
months in Switzerland, where she volunteered with the Service Civil
International. She was working to save money for a through-hike of the
Appalachian Trail that started on March 14.
Katherine R. Molaski
(English) is beginning course work for the accelerated nursing program
at UD. She expects to graduate in January 2005. In the meantime she
is working in the Coronary Intensive Care Unit of Christiana Hospital.
Alicia J. Murphy (Psychology)
is a 4th-grade teacher in the Edcouch-Elsa School District, a very poor
area in Texas. She is part of the Americorps Program. She writes, "I
spend my days dealing with the trials and trivials of 4th grade drama.
Each day I'm working towards closing the enormous achievement gap between
my poor Mexican-American students and the average American student."
She's working on a Master's in Elementary Education at the University
of Texas-Pan American.
Lindsay Ann Place
(English Education) is enrolled part-time in Arcadia University's M.A.
program in English.
Dana J. Rhode (CHEP)
is attending Villanova University Law School and hopes to get her J.D.
by May 2005. She lives in Manayunk, Philadelphia, with three other UD
grads.
Amanda Satriano (Animal
Science) is attending veterinary school at the University of Georgia.
McKenzie S. Savidge
(Medical Scholars - Liberal Studies) is attending the University of
New England College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Jessica Bureau Schinzel
(Communication) is working for the Delaware chapter of the National
Multiple Sclerosis Society as a development coordinator.
Becky Schorn (Liberal
Studies) spent seven weeks in Uganda last summer touring hospitals,
rehab centers, AID programs, rural clinics, and other aspects of health
care. She is now working on a B.S.N. in UD's accelerated nursing program.
Russell Shnitser (Chemical
Engineering) has been working as a process engineer for Axens North
America, which is located in Princeton, NJ. His work involves simulation
and equipment design of the first-ever commercialized coal liquefaction
process in Inner Mongolia, China. Coal liquefaction is a process that
is able to produce gasoline, diesel, and various other petroleum products
from coal.
Tara L. Harrell Sieber
(Natural Resource Management) got married on July 6, 2002 to UD grad
Eugene Sieber ('02 History/Political Science). She will be moving to
New Zealand to attend Lincoln University outside Christchurch in June
2003 to pursue a Masters degree in Applied Science. Her husband will
be an English as a Second Language teacher.
Bradley N. Smith (Political
Science & International Relations) is currently studying for his
Master's in Public Administration at CUNY Baruch College. He volunteers
with his local fire department as an EMT. He is also working with the
American Heart Association to build a physical activity coalition in
New York City to combat obesity and sedentary lifestyles.
Joshua M. Templet (Political
Science & International Relations) finished working on a statewide
campaign last December and is now working part-time at the Delaware
State Senate and at Kaplan as a tutor. He hopes to find a full-time
position in government soon.
Jessica Travis (Nursing)
has been working at Christiana Hospital in Wilmington since last June
as a graduate nurse. She passed her nursing boards on July 31. She did
a Critical Care Nurse Internship last year and was then going to interview
for a position in one of the ICUs she rotated through during the internship.
Katie Whitehead (Chemical
Engineering) took the summer off after graduation and traveled in Mexico,
frequenting the beach. She writes, "The best part of my summer
was my trip across the country to California. I'd never really been
west of PA before, so it was a wonderful experience to see the rest
of the country. I spent time in Chicago, Minneapolis, Mt. Rushmore,
the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, and then Las Vegas."
She is pursuing her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University
of California at Santa Barbara. Katie reports that Santa Barbara is
a "beautiful paradise and I am happy to be here."
Michael J. Williams
(International Relations) is enrolled in a Euro Master's program at
the University of Bath in Bath, England.
Dawn Wright (Biological
Studies and Liberal Studies) is working on her B.S.N. in UD's accelerated
nursing program.

Edward Claugus died in April 1999.
Madeleine D. Keeve (FIP), who transferred
to Oberlin College after attending the UD Honors Program in Fall 1976,
died on April 1, 2002.
Barbara D. Secrest (1980) died
unexpectedly on July 3, 2002, at her home in Orrville, OH.
