Class of 1977

Thomas (Tom) D. Williams (FHP; Columbia's Law School and Hamilton College, 1983) announces the birth of his “beautiful bouncing boy, Thomas Bruce Miller-Williams, born December 10, 1999.”

Class of 1978

Debra R. Moss (FHP; BA, History, SUNY Binghamton) moved to Wilmington with her husband, David Reagan, in April 2001.  Dave is an electrical engineer at SIMCO in Hatfield, PA, and Debra is an interior decorator.

Kathy G. Ward (FHP; Computer Science, TCU, 1983;  MS, Management Information Systems, Amber University, 1998) is “fairly content in corporate-land.  I manage a web analysis data warehouse for VHA, Inc.  My sister breaks longhorns to ride and my mother is now a missionary.  I'm actually looking forward to turning 40!”

Joan Frazee Wong (History and Music; MLS, Syracuse University, 1982; graduate studies in trombone performance, Northwestern University, 1986) is married to a “wonderful  husband of 6 years--he was born/raised in Honolulu, so side benefits are family vacations in Hawaii; cool new job as of August 2000 with Icarian.com, Sunnyvale, CA.”

William (Bill) Toreki, III (Chemistry; Ph.D., Analytical Chemistry) has been living in Gainesville, Florida, for the past 18 years and works mostly with a small company called Analytical Research Systems, Inc.  He says he is still “wild and crazy.”

Class of 1983

Monique Boyle Almy (Economics; J.D. cum laude, University of Baltimore, 1987) is a partner with the law firm of Ober, Kaler, Grimes & Shriver in Baltimore.  She is married to David and has a son, Alex.

Paul S. Baumbach (Computer Science; MS, Computer Science, Villanova University; ChFC and CFA) married Pamela Schmidgall in 1985 (UD '85) and had a son, Michael, in 1989. “I switched careers to finance in 1996 and founded Mallard Asset Management, Main St., Newark.  My wife joined the firm in 2000, and Michael began attending Wilmington Friends School in September of 1999.  I serve as Treasurer on two nonprofit boards, including that of the local Unitarian Universalist church.  I enjoy running, kung fu, tennis, and mountain hiking.”

Thomas J. Itchkawich (Mechanical Engineering) is Program Manager at Orbital Sciences Corp.  “We launched a satellite with Unity Module on STS88-Endeavor and the JPL Solar Physics satellite in 1999; over one year of perfect science.  I’m improving at archery with my longbow!”

Mary Bork Karcha  (Nursing) has been married for 16 years to Bob Karcha (UD ‘84), and has two children, Beth (11) and Jamie (8 ½).  She is  working part-time (“too much!”) as a pediatric nurse, in the roles of office nurse, telephone triage consultant, and nursing supervisor, at DuPont Hospital for children in Wilmington, DE.

Tom Kemler (Economics; MBA, University of Texas, 1997) married in 1997 and built a new home in September 2000

Ron Ozer (Chemical Engineering; Ph.D., Cornell, 1990) was promoted to Engineering Associate in October 2000 in DuPont Nylon at the Experimental Station.  He has now spent 10 years at DuPont.  He has two daughters, Lily (8) and Emily (7), and lives in Arden, DE.

Class of 1985

Hale Adams (Mechanical Engineering) was a warehouse worker for Matsushita Electric (Panasonic) up until 27 Oct. ‘00, when he was laid off.  He is now day-trading for a living and enjoying the time off

Kim Bockius-Suwyn (English/Journalism) has returned to the workplace, after 5 years of being a full-time mom, as special events coordinator for the Historic Savannah Foundation.  Her  husband, Dan Suwyn (UD '85), continues as Managing Editor of the Savannah Morning News.

John A. Mentis (International Relations) is employed as Vice President of International Promotion for the USA Rice Federation.  “I oversee the export promotion program for the U.S. rice industry, an approximately $6 million project.”

Patty Mihok (Agriculture) is Enhancement Manager for TruGreen Landcare and takes pride in being Florida High School Athletic Association's Fastpitch Softball umpire for the past 7 years.

Renee J. O'Brien (French/Modern Language; J.D., Georgetown University Law Center, 1989; MS, Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, 1989; MS, Theoretical Linguistics-Phonology, Georgetown University, 1996) is currently employed in Washington, D.C., as a freelance legal/technical translator while completing a Ph.D.

Tracey A. Randinelli (Communications) is senior editor with Contact Kids Magazine, published by Sesame Workshop.  I am planning a December 2001 wedding.

Daniel C. Schlotterbeck (Accounting) was recently promoted to Vice President-Finance at Ruse Berrie and Company, Inc., a New York stock exchange-listed company (RUS) mostly known for its design and distribution of numerous gift and home décor products, including stuffed animals, which Dan's kids are most happy about!

Rob Turnbull (Agricultural Engineering Technology; MS, Agronomy, Penn State, 1989) writes:  “In contrast to my horse and buggy farming days, I’ve spent the last few years ‘coming out’ in San Francisco.  From bike messenger to erotic dancer to sacred intimate…  Currently I'm delving into a nationwide private practice helping others transform with Reiki and Intuitive Energy Meditation.

Ken Weinstein (Economics; MA Govt. Admin., Fels Center of Govt.-University of Pennsylvania, 1991) is expecting his third son in April 2001.  He will join Ari (6yrs) and Evan (4 yrs).  I opened Trolley Car Diner in August 2000 in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia

Carol S. Rudnick Goldblatt (Philosophy and Psychology) celebrates new baby daughter, Peri Michal, born November 10, 2000.

David S. Meale  (Political Science) is a member of the foreign service.  “I am in my second year of Chinese language study and my three-year assignment in Taiwan.  I’m married with a 2-year-old, Theo.

Michael J. Nagle  (Chemistry) and his wife, Barbara, are delighted to announce the birth of Daniel Calvin Nagle, October 14, 2000.  Daniel joins Cassandra and Thomas in the Nagle household.

John M. Nahay  (Chemical Engineering; MS, Mathematics, Rutgers University, 1991; Ph.D., Mathematics, Rutgers University, 2000) is now working as a visiting assistant professor of mathematics at Monmouth University, West Long Branch, NJ.

Arthur A. Sherman (Electrical Engineering) and Marie St. Germain (UHP ’86, English/History) welcomed their second child, Bridget Delaney, on March 19, 2001.  She weighed 8 lbs. and 7 oz.  Big brother, Adam, claims he likes his little sister.  Arthur reports that things are going well at work at API NetWorks, formerly known as the Alpha-Processor, Inc.

Craig W. Stedman (History; JD, Dickinson School of Law, 1991) was appointed Chief of Major Crimes/Homicide Unit of Lancaster County District Attorney's Office, Lancaster, PA.

Lisa C. Alumkal (Economics and Business Administration; MBA, Stanford Graduate School of Business, 1991) and her  husband, Paul, welcomed their new son, Tyler Markovich, on May 1, 2000.

Eric D. DeAngelo (Biological Sciences; MS, Biological Sciences, 1990) hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine between February and July 2000.  In July 2001 he was promoted to Associate Professor of Biology at Lehigh Carbon Community College, Schnecksville, PA.

David M. Hauben (Biology/Psychology; MBA, Fairleigh Dickinson University, 2000) married Leslie Fox last year.

Elizabeth A. Heinz (History/Education) became Compliance Manager for the Vanguard Group in Malvern, PA, in 1999.

Dave H. Horner (BCE), and his wife, Diane, have two children: Allison (December 1997) and Eric (October 1999).

Rob Lang (Political Science) is a reporter in the Harrisburg Bureau for WGAL-TV in Lancaster, PA.

Karen Wechter Lowrie (Communication; MPA, Syracuse, 1988; Ph.D., Urban Planning, Rutgers University, 1996) is employed by Rutgers University and is the mother of three children.

Terumi Nagase McKenna (Chemical Engineering) married Chris McKenna, (UHP, CHE '87) on August 25, 2000.

Jennie B. Nerenberg (Chemistry; Ph.D., Howard University, 1993), her husband, and their daughter, Hannah, announce the birth of Aaron Curtis Daisey, born November 22, 2000

Lee Melody Newman  (Mathematics) was promoted to Research Programmer at Penn State’s Library Computing Services Department.

Erik C. Schaubach (Civil Engineering; Elementary Education Certification,  UD Special Institute for Teacher Certification, 1995) is a graduate student at UD studying for a BS in Education with a concentration in English as a Second Language Teaching and Bilingual Education

Debbie Weintraub Schleicher (Accounting) became a partner with Arthur Anderson in the Washington, D.C., office in August 1999.  She is married and the mother of two children, Samantha (6), and Todd (3).

Alan E. Sefcik (Mathematics) married Karen Richards in July 1997.  Their daughter, Erika, was born in November 1999.

Class of 1988

Tom Bradbury (Computer Information Sciences) married Patricia Tress.  Their first daughter, Emily, was born November 1997 and second daughter, Olivia, in September 2000.  He is currently leading the software engineering group at Therics, Inc. in Princeton, NJ.

Lisa P. Chieffo (Foreign Languages and Literature; MA, FLLT,1992; Ed.D, 2000) is working at U.D.'s International Program office as Director of International Students’ Programs

Jane Shurilla Davis (Civil Engineering) has a new baby, Caroline Nicole, born July 14, 2000.

David C. Jarrell (Plant Science) has accepted a position as assistant professor at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA (Biology Dept.).  I will begin teaching general biology, molecular biology, and evolution courses in August 2001.

Michael T. Poff (Civil Engineering; Masters in Coastal Engineering, University of Delaware, 1993) is married to Danielle McElroy; their first child was expected in March 2001.

Lydia Kantor Whitney (English Education) achieved Master's equivalency from various colleges and universities and has a new job teaching sixth grade at Kingsview Middle School in Montgomery County, MD.

Jeffrey Wolters (History) married Karen Wallace (UHP ’88).  They have two children, and he is a partner at the law firm of Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell in Wilmington, DE.

Robert E. Black III (Mechanical Engineering; MBA, Engineering, Mechanical/Aeronautical, Purdue University, 1990) is Manager of Ballistics at Atlantic Research Coorporation in Gainesville, VA.

Theresa Cardinal Brown (International Relations) is working as a Government Relations Representative for the American Immigration Lawyers Association.  She is married with two children (4 and 1½ years).

Kathleen Vollmar Hawkins (Business Administration; MBA , Drexel University, 1993) left J.P. Morgan & Co. in February 2000 after 11 years to become Executive Director of the Eastern Pennsylvania-Peninsula United Methodist Foundation.

Suzanne Sczubelek Herel (English Literature and Journalism; MFA, Creative Writing, Emerson College, Boston) was recently hired as a staff writer at the San Francisco Chronicle.

Kristi L. Kiick (Chemistry; MS, Chemistry, University of Georgia, 1991; MS, Polymer Science and Engineering, University of Massachusetts, 1998;  Ph.D., Polymer Science and Engineering, UMass., 2001) is coming back to UD as an Assistant Professor in the Materials Science and Engineering Department.  She also married Rick Beyer on June 9, 2001, and is living in Elkton.  “I can't wait to be back!” she wrote.

Mark C. Roman (Chemistry; Ph.D., Analytical Chemistry, University of Rhode Island, 1993) is director of Research and Development for ChromaDex, a supplier of analytical reference standards for botanical products.

Regina Kerr Alonzo (Political Science) has moved to Kennett Square, PA, and would love to catch up with UD friends.

Michael E. Altman (Chemical Engineering; Executive MBA, Temple University) has two daughters, ages 6 and 1.   He was recently promoted to Global Materials Manager for the FMC Corporation.

Karen Beaty Beeson (Business Administration/Marketing) had her second child, Laura Katherine, in August 2000.  Laura joins her older brother, Sean (3).  “I enjoy staying home fulltime with my children, but plan to return to my writing career when the children are a little older.”

T.R. Masino, Jr. (Mechanical Engineering) passed the Principles and Practices of Engineering exam in April 2000 is now a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Maryland

Colleen Robbins Odell (German; M.Ed., Wilmington College, 1994) married Wayne Odell on July 2, 2000.  She is in her seventh year of teaching in Red Clay School District.

Jennifer Lydon Riegner (Biology and Psychology) celebrated the birth of John Patrick on December 5, 2000.  He joins big brothers Christopher Ryan (May 1997) and Andrew James (August 1998)

Rob Schwinger (Criminal Justice/Political Science; J.D., Harvard Law School, 1993) is now employed as a Special Agent with the FBI in Washington, D.C.

Cynthia Fico Simpson (Psychology) is currently working as Human Resources Director of Belifnet.com.

Julie A. Walko (English and German; MSLS, Catholic University, 1993) was recently promoted to Technology Manager of Editorial and Multimedia Systems at Washingtonpost.com.

Class of 1991

Bob Brittingham (Business Administration) is working on his M.Div. at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Portland, ME.  He and his wife, Pam Conn (UD '92), were expecting their second child in March 2001.  He is area director with Young Life, a Christian Ministry group working with Jr. High/HS students in Portland.  Their son, Bobby, will turn 4 in October 2001.

Martin C. Carlisle (Computer Science and Math; Ph.D; Computer Science, Princeton University) will come up for promotion to associate professor at the U.S. Air Force Academy at the end of the 2000-2001 academic year.

Marc W. Cygnus (Computer Science) is Senior Technologist in Vernon Hills, Illinois, at a wireless personal communications firm called ArialPhone Corp.  In December 2000 he reported,  “We're getting ready to announce an “Earset” that lets you make and receive telephone calls using voice recognition.  Being the lead tech guy, it's quite an exciting time! --www.arialphone.com.”

Marc B. Davis (Business Administration) married Deanna Blum in Overland Park, KS, on November 12, 2000 (photo below).

Michael E. DiFebbo (Business Administration) is an attorney in the Commerical Litigation Department of White & Williams LLP in Philadelphia.  In his spare time he’s the assistant director and guitarist for the Audubon Jazz Explosion (http://www.jazzexplosion.com/), an 18-piece jazz big band that performs throughout the Philadelphia area

Meryl Feder Gersh (Biology; Ph.D., Genetics, Thomas Jefferson University, 1996) married Rich Gersh (UD '88) and has two children, Dannah (1995) and Aaron (1998).  She’s working as an adjunct faculty member for the Biology Dept. at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia.

Christina L. Gimbel (Communication; MA, Publications Design, University of Baltimore) just celebrated her fifth year in as owner/president of a small graphic design studio (Solo X).  In December she had just returned from a trip to Japan and Ireland.

Kristen Halvorsen Hamilton (Foreign Languages and Literature) married UD graduate Bob Hamilton.  She is the executive director of the Delaware Supreme Court's Commission on Continuing Legal Education.  Their son, Brody Robert Hamilton (see photo below), was born on July 21, 2000, six weeks early.  They were vacationing in Frederick, MD, with Kim Wheatley (UHP '92) and her husband, Vance, when Brody decided to make his debut.  She is taking advantage of technology by working from her Delaware City home.  She says she loves small-town life and enjoys weekly quilting sessions and walking to the post office with Brody to collect the mail.

John McGeehan (Mechanical Engineering) is married to Christy and lives in Holland, MI, with their three children (Travis, Graham, and Maggie).

Sheryl Daer Murphy (Psychology; M.Ed., Exceptional Children, 1995) was married to Mark in June 1999; they were expecting their first child in June 2001.

Krista Metzger Murray (Medical Technology; MS, West Chester University, 1997) celebrated the birth of her second daughter, Shannon Eleanor, born September 7, 2000.

Sharon M. O'Neal (English) is currently working as a copy editor for the Philadelphia Inquirer.  She was to be married in spring '01 to Todd Sassaman (International Relations; MA, International Affairs and Business Administration, University of Pittsburgh).  He is a financial analyst for the brokerage firm Tucker Anthony. Todd would love to hear from his classmates (todd.sassaman@verizon.net).

Nicholas S. Ormes (Math; Industrial Math, University of Maryland, College Park, 1997) announces the birth of his daughter, Gwyneth Carney Ormes, born on September 22, 2000.

Meg Dearborn Pasquerella (Electrical Engineering) with husband, Bob, announces the joyous birth of their son on March 25, 2000.

Carla R. Scanzello (Biochemistry; M.D. and Ph.D., Temple University School of Medicine, May 2001) was expecting twins, due in May 2001.

Kalah Freeman Woerner (Art/Art History; M. Arch., University of Maryland, 1996) is enjoying a son born in July 2000.  She’s working in an architectural firm in Tampa, FL.

Cathy Barbieri (English; J.D., University of Pennsylvania School of Law, 1996) was married to Jason Lempert on October 7, 2000, and lives in Center City Philadelphia.

Elaina R. Cohen (Psychology; J.D., Duke University School of Law, 1995) recently started a new job as counsel with the legal department at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals in Wilmington, DE.

Susan R. Coulby (English) has recently been admitted to the UD MA program in communication.  She will continue to work as the media relations coordinator at Camden County College while working on her degree.  She won a Professional Development Award from Region II of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations.

Ruth Glicklich deBang (Psychology; MA, Psychology Education, Kean University, 2000) finished her internship and started working as a school psychologist in February 2001.

Abby A. Fagan (Criminal Justice and English Literature) was expecting to receive a Ph.D in Sociology at the University of Colorado at Boulder in May 2001.

Robin Thomas Gischel (Accounting) has a two-year-old child.

Jennifer Cottrell Ryan (History and Political Science; paralegal certificate, Georgetown University, 1995) married David M. Ryan (UHP '91) in October 1999.  Guests at the ceremony included Cindy Spellman, Matthew Moran (UD '91) groomsman Daron Ryan (UD '93) best man, Christopher DeHeer (UHP '91), Jonathan and Maryann Meyers (UD '91), Todd Sassaman (UHP '91), Barbara Lee (UD '91), and Christine Buchanan (UD '92).

M. Jane Steele Van Adrichem Boogaert (Business Marketing; MBA, Rotterdam School of Mangment, Erasmus University, The Netherlands) gave birth to son, Max, on July 9, 2000.

Class of 1993

Jamie Fridirici Boras (Biology; MMSC, Emory University, 1995) welcomed her first child in January 2001.

Amy Tietz Cooke (Biology; M.D., University of Virginia, 1999) married in 1998 and their daughter, Molly Katherine, was born October 31, 2000.  She is a second-year pediatrics resident at the University of Michigan.

Jeffrey W. Emmert (Physics) is working towards a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Virginia.  He and Elizabeth Emmert Blackson (Biological Sciences;  Ph.D., University of Wisconsin-Madison, 1999) were married on June 20, 1998.  Elizabeth is is currently an assistant professor of Biology at West Virginia Wesleyan College.

Tracy K. Friswell (Elementary Teacher Education) was teaching at Cab Calloway School of the Arts, but has left to pursue her performing career “with abandon!  My boyfriend, Scott Jacobs, and I have our own two-person comedy/tap dance show called ON TAP (see photo below).  Please visit our website at www.ontapdance.com. The joy of my life, besides doing what I love, is my little puppy, Callie.  She's a 9-lb. miniature dachshund and is absolutely adorable!  We're taking her to Las Vegas with us. Wish us luck!”

Laurie F. Howard (Communication) is currently a copywriter with NBC television.  She recently finished 4 years at the Rosie O'Donnell Show.

Jennifer Moyer Landes (Biology) is a second-year resident in ob/gyn at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem, PA.

Dina Torok (Foreign Languages and Literature) is self-employed as a database designer and a member of a pop-rock band in Los Angeles called Lily's Siren that has been winning numerous awards and gaining success in L.A.  “I am also pursuing a studio singing career.  Visit www.lilyssiren.com or www.TourRock.com to learn more.”

Michael P. Watson (Economics; MA, Economics, Clemson; MS and Ph.D., Applied Mathematics, University of Georgia) is Senior Research Analyst at the New York Stock Exchange.

George S. Watts (Chemistry; Ph.D., Pharmacology/Toxicology) was recently appointed a research assistant professor at the Arizona Cancer Center.  “I am working on my own research into drug resistance in human cancer while directing a DNA microassay case service.”

Class of 1994

Susan M. Cheney (Biological Sciences; MS, Genetic Counseling from Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University, 1997) is leaving Boston after 3+ years to move back to the Philadelphia area to work for Genzyme Genetics. 

Erinne May-Reed (Accounting) “married my sweetie of 8 years in June, 2000.  We moved to NYC the next day!”

Kathy Emmertz McGoldrick (ETE) is the mother of a son, James, born in November 1999. She is on maternity leave until September 2001, when she will return to teaching third grade at Hilltop School in Mendham, NJ.

Jennifer Horan Meehan (Political Science) “moved to St. Louis in spring 1999 to be with my beloved, where I married under a lighthouse by the sea in September 2000.  I am working as a trainer (PC/software) for a home builder, and love teaching an adult population.  My years at UD were wonderful… I can't believe 7 years have gone by so quickly.”

Ed Stewart (Mechanical Engineering; Ph.D., Marine Studies, UD, 2000), is married to Louisa Hartenstein (UHP ’95).  In January 2001 they moved from Delaware to Colorado so Ed could start his new job as they await the birth of their first child.

Jeffrey M. Wilson (Biology; MD, Hanemann School of Medicine, 1998) graduated from the Family Practice Residency Program at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island and Brown University in June 2001.

Joanna Hart Adams (Business Administration; MBA, Salisbury State University, 1998) was married in March 2000 in Jamaica.

Sarah J. Bannister (Chemical Engineering; MS, Chemical Engineering, 1999; Ph.D., Chemical Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) accepted a job as a Research Engineer with du Pont and is working at the Experimental Station in Wilmington, DE.

Amy L. Blazek (Psychology; M.Ed., Loyola College, 2000; NCC, National Certified Counselor) was hired as a school counselor in spring 2000.

Denise Conway Bowman (Political Science; J.D., Temple University School of Law, 1998) and her husband, Jay, expected their first by at the end of April.  Denise is an attorney in the litigation department at Stradley, Ronon, Stevens & Young LLP in Philadelphia.

Jeffrey J. Covone (Biological Sciences) and Beth Laurenzano (International Relations; J.D., Seton Hall University School of Law, 1998) were married in June 1999.  Their son, Gabriel, was born July 29, 2000.

Kelly Bigley Craig  (Elementary and Special Education) was married to David Craig on July 29, 2000.

Laura B. Geyer (Biological Sciences) started an MA program at the University of Hawaii.  In  1996 she transferred to Harvard’s Ph.D. program in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology.  In August 2000 she finished a research trip to collect sea urchins in Okinawa at the University of Ryakyus.

Maura Alfieri Hendrixson (Biochemistry) is a staff organic chemist for du Pont.  She is now working parttime following the birth of her son, Eric Hendrixson, Jr., on May 3, 2000.

Kimberly Williams Henry (Early Childhood Development and Education) is working on a Master’s in Education-Learning Disabilities at North Carolina State University.  On September 5, 1998, she married Dan Henry.  “We had our first child, Owen Dillon [see photo below], on April 28, 2000.  After teaching self-contained special education preschoolers for 4 years, I have switched gears and now teach K-5 special education in a resource setting.” 

Marc L. Honig (Psychology; MA, University of South Carolina, 1999) married in 1997 and now works at an advertising research company.

Chris L. Kulp (Chemistry; MS, Polymer Chemistry, Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ) was recently named Manager, New Business Development, at Richman Chemical, Inc. in Ambler, PA.  “More importantly, my wife, Kristen Sipics (UD '95), gave birth to our first child, Josh Christopher, on September 25, 2000.”

Jen Diaz Marcon (Civil Engineering) “married my college sweetheart, Jeffrey Marcon (UD '95) on September 7, 1996, and we had a baby girl (Nicole Kaitlyn) on November 7, 2000.” 

Michael S. Quariadi (Mechanical Engineering) has won two Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments and taken second place in two others.  He lives now in Camp Hill, PA, and works as a computer programmer/analyst for a healthcare insurance company.

Kate E. Schafer (English/History) has recently published a young adult novel The King's Sister with Xlibris.  “Copies are available on their website, xlibris.com/bookstore and on Amazon.com.  It's an historical novel about King Arthur's younger sister that began in an English class at UD.”

Megan R. Smith (History/Spanish; MA, 2000) is working at Fleet Financial as a Financial Analyst.

Louisa Hartenstein Stewart (Biological Sciences) is married to Ed Stewart (UHP ’94).  Last January they m oved from Delaware to Colorado so he could start his new job as they awaited the birth of their first child.

Tamala M. Stigile (Family and Community Services; MSW, Florida State University, 2001) has moved to Jacksonville, FL, to do an internship in a state mental health facility.

Gregory S. Adey (Business Administration; M.D., Jefferson Medical College, 2000) was married on May 20, 2000, to a fellow doctor, Lauren Parkhill.  He is currently a first-year resident in surgery (urology) at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, MA.

Krista King Barber (Biochemistry) and her husband, Scott Barber (Chemistry), announce the birth of their son, Craig James, on June 10, 2001.  Craig measured 21½” inches and weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz. despite being 2½ weeks ahead of schedule.

Cathy Jones Berquist  (Chemistry; MA and MPhil, Columbia University, 2000) recently started a job at National Starch and Chemical Company in their synthetic polymers division.

Cynthia Cunningham Chambers (History Education) and her husband, Jamie, welcomed their first child, Sarah Rose, was born on November 29, 2000 at NYU Medical Center.  She weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz.  Mommy and baby are very well

Becky Johnson Green (English; Legal Assistant Certificate, UD, 1998) celebrated her two-year anniversary to Jay (UD ’94).  “I am working at Stewart & Associates as a corporate paralegal in Wilmington, DE.  We will be attending the June 2001 wedding of fellow UD alums, Aubrey Eastridge and Amy W. Kane.

Jeff B. Greenstein (History; J.D., Rutgers University Law School, 1999) has finished a one-year judicial clerkship in N.J. Appellate Court.  “I am currently a litigator at Drinker, Biddle & Reath L.L.P. in Philadelphia.  I would be happy to lecture UHP students interested in becoming attorneys.”

Christian L. Hermansen (Liberal Studies; MD, Jefferson Medical College, 2000) is currently living in Lancaster, PA, and works in a family practice residency.  He married Heather J. Pyle (UD '97) in 1998.

Mike A. Hoffmann (Liberal Studies; M.D., Jefferson Medical College, 2000) is a doctor in the Bethesda U.S. Naval Hospital.  He was admitted to the residence program for E.N.T. and was married May 27, 2000, to Stephany McGuire of Bryn Mawr, PA.

Staci I. Levin (Chemistry; JD, Georgetown University Law Center, 2000) recently began her career as an attorney at Fish & Neave, an intellectual property firm.  She is also happy to announce her engagement to Richard Julie.

David L. Malotky (Chemical Engineering; Ph.D., Lehigh University, 2001) is working at Dow Chemical as a senior research engineer.

Lisa Kondraschow Moreland (International Relations and Spanish; MPA, UD, 1998) has moved to Bel Air, MD, with her husband, Randy Moreland.

Eric Morrison (English) works as an “administrative assistant, teacher, and tutor for the tri-state area’s largest independently owned full-service education facility.  Also, I work as a freelance writer.  Finally, I have also been performing as a professional female impersonator since by graduation from UD throughout the tri-state area.  I have held several titles in the female impersonation circuit, including a national title.”

Adam F. Niedelman (Liberal Studies; MD, Jefferson Medical College, 2000) is in residence at Brown University.

Philip S. Perschetz (Finance/Marketing) announces his engagement to Jodi Salvin (UD '98).  The wedding was to take place in June 2001.

Lori McCarthy Prout (Accounting; CPA) recently moved to Indiana due to relocation with her husband's company.  She is recruiting for Accounting and Finance with Robert Half International.

Sharon L. Rieger (Education/Music) is a marketing assistant at Service Pointe, a “high-end computer training facility.  My goal is to work for a large company and obtain my MBA.”

Graham M. Segroves (International Relations/FFLT; MA, Foreign Lanaguages and Pedagogy, 1998; MA, International Affairs, George Washington University) was employed for two years and advanced from intern to public information associate at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force in Washington.  In November 2000 he joined the staff of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs.

Evan O. Williford (English Lit./Voc. Perf.; JD, Cornell University, 2001) and his wife, Dionne, are expecting their first child in August 2001.  They will be moving back to Delaware, where he will be working for Chief Justice E. Norm Veasey of the Delaware Supreme Court.

Karin Wood Bockrath (Math Education) married Brian Bockrath (UD '95) in 1998.  Their first child, Christine Elizabeth, was born on October 28, 2000.

Cat Dukes (Family and Community Services) is Program Director of Rape Crisis Services for Contact Delaware, Inc., in New Castle County.

Bryna K. Groll 1997 (Nursing) graduated in December 2000 with a Master's degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practioner from Wilmington College.

Dayna Levin (Liberal Studies) was expecting to graduate from Jefferson Medical College in June 2001.

Cathy Du Louie (Accounting) married Michael Louie on July 8, 2000.   After three years with Arthur Anderson L.L.P., she became the Assistant Controller at a New York-based real estate management company.

Shannon L. McCarthy (Chemistry Education) is a chemist at Johnson & Johnson.

Jennifer Pennington McLaughlin (Elementary Education) is teaching 8th grade special education in Delaware’s Colonial School District.  She was married on July 15, 2000.

Kerrie B. Murin (Finance) has been working as a business development volunteer for the Peace Corps in El Salavatore since March 1, 1999.

Edie M. Myers (Biological Sciences) is completing a Ph.D. in Molecular Neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania.

Soenda E. Padmore (Biological Sciences; MD, Temple University, 2001) is applying for residency and was recently inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, a national medical honor society.

Vasudha Bhide Panday (Liberal Studies/Biological Sciences) married Manoj M. Panday, M.D., on January 3, 2000.

Jill Dunham Rajaee (Sociology/French) has a career with the Department of Treasury.  She has been married to Babek Rajaee ( UD '93) for 4 years and now lives in Detroit, Michigan.

Julie E. Randolph (Chemistry and Art Conservation; MAC, 2000) moved to Indiana to become a textile conservator at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

Manny G. Sarreal (Chemistry) is currently working for the University of Pennsylvania Nucleic Acid Facility doing DNA synthesis.  He is also enrolled in the Wharton Graduate School of Preparation Certificate Program.

Aaron M. Scurto (Chemical Engineering) is pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (est. graduation May 2002) at the University of Notre Dame and is married to Stephanie Ann Smith of Elkton, MD.  He spent five months on a research project in Rio de Janeiro and has accepted a one-year post-doctorate opportunity in Germany at the Max-Planck Institute in Mulheim-an-der-Ruhr.

David P. Smoyer (Chemical Engineering) enjoys visits from UD friends, as well as skiing, photography, and wilderness camping “out west” (California).  He works in the research and engineering of composite structures for satellites.

Christa R. Tokarsky (Biological Studies/Liberal Studies) earned her MD at Jefferson Medical College this June.

Robyn McLain Underwood (Entomology and Applied Ecology; M.Sc., University of Manito, exp. 2001) is studying the use of formic acid to control Varroa mite infestations of honey bees.  She married Todd J. Underwood in August 1997after her graduation and the completion of his M.Sc. in Entomology and Applied Ecology at UD.  He is now a Ph.D. student in the Department of Zoology at the University of Manitoba, studying the egg recognition behavior of cowbird egg ejector species.

W. Daniel Young (Marketing; MBA, UD, 1999) is a financial planner for American Express Financial Advisors.

Missy Dugan Atkinson (History/Women's Studies) is coming back to UD as the Complex Coordinator in the Russell Complex.  She and Brian Atkinson (Chemical Engineering) were married in March 2001.

Lora E. Barnhart (Biochemistry) is completing a Ph.D. in Biology at Columbia University, New York City.

Jody L. Berwick (International Relations) had just returned from a UD Winter Session in China when she wrote:  “I loved it!”  She was moving to North Carolina soon to attend the Kenan-Flagler B-school at UNC, Chapel Hill.  “Keep in touch with me through e-mail (jodyberwick@hotmail.com) or my parents.”

Mary C. Bigelow (Political Science and Women's Studies) is currently attending Cornell Law School and is an associate on the Cornell Law Review  She was recently engaged to David Kuzawa (UD '99), who is also attending Cornell Law School.  They will be spending the summer in Washington, DC, where she will be working for the law firm of Arnold & Porter.  Dave will be employed with Shaw Pittman.

Alison M. Bossert (Biology Education) is working on a Masters at Kutztown University in Secondary Education. Curriculum and Instruction.  She became engaged in November to Mark Verbana, whom she had been dating since sophomore year.  They planned to marry in June 2001.

Marcia L. Cavanaugh (Sociology and Women's Studies) MA, Sociology, UD 2000) is working for New Castle County government as an Emergency Preparedness Planner.  She bought a house in September 2000 in Bear, DE, with Matthew C. Nickle, a 1998 Business Administration UD grad.

Meghan E. Dey (Environmental Science; MSPH, Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University, 2000) worked for a year as a surveillance epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.  She is currently an epidemiologist at the Northeast Health District in Athens, GA.

Adrienne Thompson Eckhardt (Medical Technology) and Robert J. Eckhardt (History/Foreign Languages; M.Ed., Student Affairs Administration, Michigan State University, 2000) were married on July 15, 2000. They are living in Rochester, NY, where Adrienne is a Scientist in Research and Development for Wyeth, a pharmaceutical company specializing in vaccines, and Rob is a Resident Director for the Rochester Institute of Technology, working primarily with deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

Jennifer E. Gartner (Criminal Justice/Political Science) expects to earn her J.D. at George Washington University Law School in 2001.  She is an associate at the Washington, DC, office of the law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius L.L.P after taking the bar exam this July.

Brian P. Givens (Mechanical Engineering; MS, Mechanical Engineering, Drexel University, 2000) is working for Kim Manufacturing in Downingtown, PA.  He planned to marry Kim Manchester (UD ‘99) in June 2001.

Kimberly Krouse Goodwin  (Geophysics) married Scott Goodwin on Octover 7, 2000, in Jackson, Mississippi.  They are both students in the MBA program at the University of Southern Mississippi; Kimberly was planning a May 2001 graduation.

Jennifer F. Jefferies (Biology) is currently pursuing an MS in Marine Biology at the University of Charleston in South Carolina.

Lisa Jay. Kessler (Psychology; MS, Genetic Counseling, Beaver College 2000) married Dan Kessler (UD '97) September 3, 2000.  She is presently working at the University of Pennsylvania as an athlectics counselor.

Jason L. Kyler (Civil Engineering) earned his MBA in 2001.

Joanna B. May (Political Science and History) is pursuing a masters in Higher Education Admistration at New York University while working as Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions, also at NYU.

Shawn P. Mitchell (English; MA, University of Southern California Film School, January 2001) is looking for a good job.

Brett A. Niessen (Elementary Education) finished in April 2001 2½ years of service with the Peace Corps in Thailand.

Andrew P. Notarian (Environmental Science and Foreign Languages and Literature) got a new job in May 2000 as an application developer at Capunet, in Rockville, MD. 

Nicole L. Raymond (Fitness Management) works at Harvard Business School in MBA Career Services.  She is engaged to David Margalit (Business Administration '97), who is now in his second year at Harvard Business School.

Lauren A. Ryan (Marketing) earned an insurance license for life, health, and annuities and was promoted from Marketing Associate to a Sales Consultant in January 2000.

Rachel J. Sacher (Mathematics, M.Ed., U.C. Berkeley, 2000) started teaching math in 2000 at El Cerrito High School in El Cerrito, California, just north of Berkeley

Christopher L. Sprague (Biological Sciences) is currently a Ph.D. student in toxicology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

William F. Stafford, Jr. (Philosophy) is a graduate student at the University of Hawaii and works nights as a Polynesian Drummer at Germaine's Luau in Honolulu.

Karen L. Steele (Business Administration) has a new commitment within W.L. Gore & Assoc. as Information Systems Support.

Ginny D. Thompson (Medical Technology), a member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, is working at a treatment center for teenage girls in Mesa, AZ.  After completing her commitment with JVC, she plans to pursue a graduate degree in Public Health.

B. Jill Trafton Venton (Chemistry) married Andrew Vernon Venton at the HillSong Church in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on June 23, 2001.

Kelly A. Whitman (International Relations and Economics, MA, Economics, Tufts University, 1999) is working as an economist at Economy.com in West Chester, PA.

Seth B. Coston (Fine Art) is pursuing an MA in Visual Arts at Goldsmiths College, University of London.

Joe S. Del Sole (Chemical Engineering) and Ashley M. Burton (UHP ’99; Philosophy and Political Science) were planning to marry on May 27, 2001.  Joe is working at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a patent examiner.

Ryan A. Fauth (Computer Science) is presently employed by a small company called MESH (Micro Engineering Software and Hardware) as a software engineer.

Melissa J. Freeman (Criminal Justice) served 10 months with the Americorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC: a domestic Peace Corps-type program).  She is now in her first year at Widner Law School in Wilmington, pursuing a law degree.

Sean M. Gallagher (Mechanical Engineering) is studying for an MS in Mechanical Engineering, University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Clare L. Gimpel (Biological Sciences; certification of Biomedical Sciences, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, 2000) is working on her Doctor of Ostepathy at PCOM, expected in 2004.

Victoria E. Haje (Mangement Marketing) is in her second year at UCLA School of Law.

Allison Hansen (Chemistry) works as a Research Chemist for National Starch and Chemical Company in the Division of Adhesives.

Maggie L. Janes (International Relations) is serving in the Peace Corps, Bolivia, since May 2000.  She is working in the community development field and is creating water systems to serve rural villages.

Matt M. Kaukeinen (English) has been doing retail promotions for Instinct Records in New York City for a year.  She is also doing some acting and DJ work on the side.”

Betsy A. Lowther (English and History) is working as an editorial assistant at Working Mother magazine in New York City.

Aaron W. Overman (Civil Engineering; MS, Engineering (Transportation), University of Texas at Austin, 2000).  He was moving to the Washington, D.C., area this spring.

Tim J. Patton (Computer and Information Science) started eCatcher, Inc., an internet development company in March 2000.  Besides being the co-founder, he is the senior developer.

Bekki A. Raczynski (Nursing) is a first-year medical student at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Johnson Medical School.

Carrie D. Rightmire (Elementary Education; Masters in School Counseling, UD, 2001) went on a mission trip to Haiti last July and would like to return to live for 2-4 years as a missionary after finishing graduate school this May. 

Lou P. Rotkowitz (Biological Sciences) is presently at St. Matthew's University School of Medicine in Belize, Central America, where he hopes to earn an M.D. degree.

Justin M. Schaffer (Mechanical Engineering) is planning to marry his girlfriend of six years in December 2001.

Kelly D. Schimmel (Psychology) is in a doctoral program for Child Clinical Psychology at Penn State University.  She became engaged this past August and will be getting married in October 2001.

Amy G. Sens (International Relations) is working on a Master's of Divinity at Harvard University.

Cathleen A. Swody (Psychology) is pursuing a Ph.D. in industrial/organizational Psychology at the University of Connecticut under a full scholarship and fellowship.  She was expecting to receive her Master's degree by May 2001 and will be teaching a section of statistical methods in psychology this spring semester.

P.J. Torina (Biological Sciences and Liberal Studies) says med school (at Jefferson Medical College) is “going great.  I’m learning a lot while still having time for myself.”

Nick J. Hilosky (International Relations) is attending Villanova Law School and planning to go to Singapore for an intership and law program related to his International Law interests.  “I'm considering the pursuit of the joint JD/MBA program if there are enough hours in the day.”

Heather N. Kirn (English) is earning a MAT at Johns Hopkins University and teaching 9th- grade English at Southwestern High School in the Baltimore City Public School System.

Wesley M. Lawrence (Biological Sciences) is in his first year at Vermont Law School in South Royalton, VT.

Lalena M. Luna (Psychology) works as a senior case manager for adults with mental illnesses.

Troy A. Markel (Biological Sciences) is attending Penn State University College of Medicine in Hershey, PA, and is in the process of founding a new children's charity called Band-Together (www.band-together.org).

Heather N. McMenamin (HRIM) has a new job at the Chevy Chase Club.

Beth L. Scarnati (HRIM) works at World Travel, the second-largest travel company in the world.  “We do meetings for DuPont.  I'm living in Wilmington now, but am considering moving to Philly in September.”

Jenny L. Speares (Psychology) moved to Leipzig, Germany.  “I have a job as a Research Assistant in Developmental Psychology at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology.”

Amanada L. Stouffer (Chemistry) is working towards a Ph.D. in Organic and Biological Chemistry.

Jenn C. Van Horn (Art History and History) is working on an MA at UD in Winterthur's Program of Early American Material Culture.

Tracy L. Weinstein (Accounting) is currently working at Arthur Andersen LLP.

Andrea C. Wheatley (Chemistry) became engaged to Bill McFadden and moved to NY, about 30 mins outside the city.  She also just began working at NY Medical College in a chemistry lab.

Kristi L. Zecker (Economics) works full-time as a Finance Associate for Waterparks & Recreation at Walt Disney World.
