Alumni Donors

We of the University Honors Program -- students, faculty, and staff -- are very appreciative of your monetary gifts. Our students benefit enormously from the special activities and experiences made possible by gifts from you and other thoughtful friends of the program. In the 2004 Fall semester funding was provided for theater students to travel to the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, D.C. to see a play and to visit the Folger Shakespeare Library. An Honors English class attended a performance of Madame Butterfly at the Arena Stage in Washington. Art History students visited the Walters Museum in Baltimore and the University of Pennsylvania Museum in Philadelphia. Criminal Justice students attended a National Public Radio taping of a "Justice Talking," which featured a discussion of juveniles and the death penalty. Students in an Honors French class attended a performance of The Miser at a theater near Philadelphia. Animal Science and Plant Science students visited several laboratories and facilities that were relevant to their classes. Consumer Studies students traveled to New York City with their professor to the "Form Follows Fashion" costume exhibit, and guest lecturers spoke in several Honors classes. Additional activities are routinely planned for the semester. We very much appreciate your support of our efforts to enrich the education of these University students.

Cordially,

John A Courtright, Ph.D.
Director, University Honors Program
