Criteria for Individual Honors Sections
Following are the criteria for the Individual Honors Contract:
- Only one Individual Honors Contract is allowed per term (i.e. semester, winter session or summer.)
- The completed Request for Individual Honors Section form, including all required attachments, must be submitted to the Senior Associate Director at the Honors Program, Room 207 Elliott Hall, no later than the last day of the free drop/add period. Late requests will not be accepted.
- In order to be eligible for an individual contract, 1st and 2nd year students must have a minimum University of Delaware g.p.a. of 3.00 and 3rd and 4th year students must have a minimum of 3.20.
- This option is available only if no Honors section exists for the course during the semester.
- No more than 3 Individual Contracts may be counted toward completion of the 30 Honors credits necessary for the Honors Degree.
- For Study Abroad courses this form must be completed and submitted BEFORE leaving campus for the overseas program.
- Creating an individual Honors section is at the discretion of the individual faculty member and is subject to the approval of the department chair. Not all departments allow the creation of individual Honors sections (e.g., CIS and Economics --- although Economics may permit during Winter Session). For further information about availability of individual contracts, please contact the specific department.
- For currently matriculated students interested in applying to the Honors Program, individual honors contract courses will not count toward Honors admission.
